Celebrating Parents

Our time with Hidden Valley Retreat & Spa has given us the privilege of being a part of the precious moment in which couples express their love and commitment for each other. In addition, an essential part of a wedding's function is to share love with family and friends. The unique wedding weekend that we offer at Hidden Valley Retreat is particularly well adapted to providing loved ones with the space and time to spend these cherished moments of celebration and bonding with each other. Over the years, we have witnessed some particularly intimate moments between our couples and their parents, and we wanted to take this opportunity to share those touching moments with you. These pictures say more than we ever could, so we will let them speak for themselves.

Mulberry season!

Summer fun is in full bloom at Hidden Valley Retreat! Our daughter and her friend were able to come up to the property this weekend. They took advantage of the warm weather and went swimming in the fountain. But most deliciously of all, they picked some home-grown mulberries!

The mulberry tree is one of the oldest at our property. It was planted many years ago by the previous owner, Dr. Bernard Jensen. These days, its boughs hang heavy with ripe, juicy fruit. If you have never had a mulberry, they are the most delicious, sweet, tart, purple berries you could pop in your mouth!

Check out the fun!

Firefighter Appreciation Day Held On Our Historic Property

As many of you remember, in October 2007, a firestorm devastated southern California. Valley Center, along with many other communities, was affected. My husband and I had just purchased our dream property and had to helplessly watch as the Witch Creek fire raced through the valley towards our home. Just as the fire was only 10 feet from our house, the firemen arrived and saved us. It was a miracle and we thank our dear friends, the Valley Center Fire Department, for their bravery and for driving into the raging fire to save our dream. They are our local heroes, as I’m sure you will agree.

One year later, we felt it was time to show our gratitude by hosting a fundraiser in their honor. We opened up our property to the community with music, food, education, and fun. The best part was that a sizeable donation was made to the Valley Center Fire Department to use as needed.

We look forward to making a difference in our community again, one of these days soon. We thank all of our local heroes! And we thank you, -thanks for coming out, swaying to the music, and making it a day to remember!
