Rosella and Rudy met when they both volunteered for a church program in February of '07. Rudy says that "Rosella's pretty face hasn't left my mind since the moment when I first laid eyes on her." Although Rosella was initially intrigued by Rudy's
6'6" stature, she wasn't as sure. In a bold, early move, Rudy asked a mutual friend for Rosella's number and called to ask her out on a lunch date. However, after their second date, Rosella tried to tell Rudy that she just didn't think they were a good match. Undeterred, Rudy asked Rosella out again. His persistence eventually broke though her tough walls, and this happy couple hasn't stopped dating since. Together, they are currently taking a pre-marital class and are striving daily to "grow closer and to strengthen our walk with Christ." Rudy writes that he and Rosella want to "be an example of how marriage is more than just a life-long commitment; it is a gift from god that should be treasured for life."

I met Rosella a week after Rudy originally asked her out. She's now my roommate and she's A-MAZING! Rudy's a man after God's own heart and they are in it for the long haul. Although extremely different (one extreme being Rudy's deep Eor sounding voice- Rosella says it puts her to sleep!!... LITERALLY!) they are in love and can't wait to spend the rest of their lives together.

Their love for each other is evident in everything they do, and they bring out the best in one another. Each of their weaknesses are the other one's strengths. They perfectly balance each other out, and they're a blast to hang out with! These two will be an awesome example of marriage.

They have this incredible foundation and they understand how important it is "to serve" each other. They sincerely believe the love that they share is a gift. They are both so humble and both have such giving hearts. They deserve this wedding because they both give so much to their community and to their church. ReplyDeleteI cannot think of a couple more deserving of this wonderful opportunity! Rudy and Rosella are kind, thoughtful, and loyal people who also are extremely generous. They give freely of their love, time and money – without expectation. As a married couple, they will be unstoppable, as each person brings so much to the relationship. They always challenge one another to grow and learn; it’s amazing to see! I, and all those who know them well, would be absolutely floored to see them win this contest because we know how much they would be blessed by it and how much they would cherish each and every moment of their wedding day and the life they build together!!!

ReplyDeleteTheir love is strong... God has definitely blessed them with each other's love. They not only complement each other... they belong together. I have known Rosella for years and I have never seen her as happy and in love as she is with Rudy.
It needs to be recognized that my friend, Rosella, is THE most deserving of ALL brides-to-be.
ReplyDeleteShe is truly a beautiful person who has had her struggles; yet she always remains good-natured and so loving. She is a person that does so much for everyone and anyone that crosses her path without hesitation while really asking for nothing in return. She is a person who would joyfully give you her last 'anything that you might be needing' without any hint of resentment or animosity. For her to have the wedding she desires is just one day when she can receive just a little of what she has given to so many people. A beautiful gift that would go to such a beautiful person! Rudy will make a proud groom and I believe a wonderful husband to her. Your gift will not be appreciated more by ANYONE ELSE than this couple. they both need this and, moreover, both DESERVE a gift such as this!

When I first met Rosella I saw right away what a beautiful and vibrant personality she is. Rosella started telling me about this guy she was dating and how he was reacting to her psychotic outbursts (which happens with vibrant personalities :) and what always struck me was how patient he was with her and how clearly he loved her. Not the kind of love that says, “I love you for what you can give to me in this relationship” but the kind of love that states, “I love you, all your chaos and everything you screw up, I want to be part of your world because you are a treasure and I can’t see myself doing life without you.”
ReplyDeleteI’m excited for Rosella and Rudy because I know what they have is the real thing and it’s the kind of love that persists long after an engagement, a wedding contest, or even a wedding. They have the kind of love that continues through the years, through the kids and the grandkids and swings with them on the back porches of life.
They have found a treasure in each other and if you could see them together you’d see it right away. They value each other above their own selves in such a way that’s it’s an inspiration to everyone around them – me included!
I've known Rosella for about 8 years and Rudy for about 2 years, so I could definitely give some insight on why these two deserve a wedding. It's not only because these two are incredible people: amazing servants with gracious hearts. It's not only because Rosella's lovable & frenetic energy compliments Rudy's calming teddy bear demeanor. It's not only because Rosella's intellectual & organizational aura balances Rudy's affability and sociability.
ReplyDeleteIn a day and age where people don't keep their word much less a commitment, I have witnessed Rosella and Rudy's commitment to God, themselves, and each other. Many people think it's just enough to be committed in a relationship to God. Yet, I've seen Rosella commit to confronting rather hurtful life situations and working through them rather than run away. Rudy has developed into a servant leader: a man of devotion and integrity willing to work harder on personal development so he can contribute to making the world that much of a better place.
What they have both brought to the table could only be sustained by their continual efforts to put the desires of God and each other before themselves. They maintain and grow their budding love because they keep extending the gift of grace to each other which will carry them from their wedding into eternity.
